You don’t have to be Cuban or old to enjoy this cocktail. It’s well-balanced, you can taste the alcohol but the flavors of mint and lime come through rather nicely.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz simple syrup
  • 1 1/2 oz aged rum
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 6 mint leaves
  • 2 oz dry champagne

Instructions

  1. Muddle lime, syrup and mint in a mixing glass
  2. Add rum, bitters and ice
  3. Shake well
  4. Strain into a cocktail glass and top with champagne
