Algonquin
Named for the Algonquin Hotel, New York City, which achieved notoriety as a meeting place in the 1920s for a group of friends known as the Algonquin Round Table or Vicious Circle. Amongst the group were such renowned people as Robert Benchley, Edna Ferber, Harpo Marx and Dorothy Parker.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 oz rye whiskey
- 1 oz dry vermouth
- 1 oz pineapple juice
- Brandied cherry
Instructions
- Shake the rye, vermouth and juice vigorously over ice
- Strain into a chilled cocktail glass
- Drop a brandy-soaked cherry in the drink
