Sudanese Rose Cocktail

Sudanese Rose

I found this while cruising online from Chris Stanley of Rookie Libations. I haven’t tried it yet but the Sudanese Rose just really caught my eye. It looks fairly complex but worth the effort.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz. Rhum Agricole Blanc (La Favorite)
  • 1/2 oz. Lillet Blonde
  • 2 oz. Karkade (Hibiscus tisane, jaimaica also works fine)
  • 3-4 dashes hibiscus grenadine
  • For hibiscus grenadine:
  • 2 Cups: white Sugar
  • 1 Cup: Water
  • 1/4 Cup: dried Hibiscus flowers
  • 1 whole Pomegranate, seeded

Instructions

  1. For hibiscus grenadine:
  2. In a saucepan, bring the sugar & water to a simmer, stirring to dissolve the sugar.
  3. Add the Pomegranate seeds & Hibiscus flowers and simmer on medium heat for about twenty minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Allow to cool then strain by preferred method (cheesecloth, strainer, &c.), add an (optional) ounce of vodka as a preservative & bottle.
  5. For Sudanese Rose:
  6. Combine ingredients in a mixing glass & stir well with plenty of ice.
  7. Strain into a double-rocks glass, half-filled with ice. Garnish with a twist of Lime, sprig of fresh Peppermint & an organic Rose petal.
