A David Wondrich creation for Esquire Magazine, you could drink this any day of the year. However, assuming you’re planning to share this with the object of your desire on Saint Valentine’s Day, the recipe is for two.
I have to add I found the recipe a little too sharp. For a Valentine’s Day cocktail you tend to think sweetheart, not sweet-tart. You might consider reducing the lime to 1/2 to 3/4 oz and adding an extra 1/2 oz of port, as I did.
- 3 oz full-flavored white rum (like 10 Cane)
- 1 oz Grand Marnier
- 1 oz ruby port
- 1 oz fresh lime juice, strained
- Shake all ingredients over ice
- Strain into two chilled cocktail glasses
