Robert Burns

Though generally considered to be named for the famous Scottish bard, the Robert Burns cocktail may have been named for a cigar salesman who frequented the Old Waldorf-Astoria around 1930, and is not to be confused with the Bobby Burns cocktail.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz scotch whiskey
  • 1.5 oz Italian vermouth
  • Dash of absinthe
  • Dash of orange bitters

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients with ice to chill
  2. Strain into a cocktail glass
  3. Serve with a piece of Scottish shortbread
