New Life Cocktail
In the original Savoy Cocktail book this drink called for “Hercules”, a wine-based aperitif that included yerba matte and which doesn’t exist any more. So I’ve substituted Fernet Branca, an Italian liquor.
I also replaced the Montecristo rum with Cachaca and adjusted the measurements to accommodate the new flavors. All in all, it created a rather complex and potent mix of flavors that I find almost addictive and definitely a concoction for slow sipping.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 oz Cointreau
- 3/4 oz Cachaca
- 1/2 oz Fernet Branca
Instructions
- Mix ingredients over ice and strain into a small cocktail glass.
- Have a wonderful life.
