Morning Glory Fizz

Morning Glory Fizz

This is Dale DeGroff’s version of O.H. Byron’s recipe from the 1884 “Modern Bartender’s Guide”, without the few drops of absinthe that are often added.

This a “reviver” cocktail, meant to be drunk in the morning as a tonic.

[five-star-rating]

Ingredients

  • 1 egg white
  • 3/4 oz lemon and lime (3 parts lemon to 1 part lime)
  • Dash of simple syrup
  • 2 oz malt scotch whisky (high proof is best)
  • Soda water

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients except the soda water to a shaker that’s about 3/4 filled with fine ice.
  2. Shake well then strain.
  3. Top with a splash or two of soda water.
