Absinthe Special

The traditional Absinthe Special Cocktail recipe. The picture shows the drink before the bitters and water are poured over the spirit.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz absinthe
  • 1 oz ice-cold water
  • 1/4 tsp powdered sugar
  • Dash of orange bitters

Instructions

  1. Pour the absinthe into a heavy glass
  2. Place an absinthe spoon over the glass and place the sugar cube on the spoon
  3. Soak the sugar with the bitters
  4. Drip the water ever so slowly on the cube so that it dissolves into the absinthe
  5. Stir gently and sip very slowly
